A
noninvasive, painless medical test that uses a small amount of radiation,
and provides detailed images of structures in the body. A CT scan
combines multiple x-ray images to generate cross-sectional views
or “slices.” A computer reassembles these slices to recreate
detailed two- or three-dimensional images, which are then viewed
on a monitor.
Special Considerations
If you are diabetic, have a history of kidney
problems or are over 60 years of age, some blood tests will be necessary
before your CT scan.
Please let us know if you have any allergies, especially
to iodine.
If your physician has ordered a CT with an IV contrast
, you cannot eat or drink four hours before your scheduled exam.
